Carbon footprinting and becoming carbon neutral:

[vc_column_text]The Australian Government introduced the National Carbon Offset Standard (NCOS) on 1 July 2010 to provide national consistency and consumer confidence in the voluntary carbon market. The standard serves two primary functions – it provides guidance on what is a genuine voluntary offset and sets minimum requirements for calculating, auditing and offsetting the carbon footprint of an organisation, product or event to become ‘carbon neutral certified’.

Balance Carbon works with NCOS participants and other organisations wishing to reduce and offset their emissions by:

  • Calculating the carbon footprint of their organisation, product or event
    Preparing the NCOS application package
  • Sourcing acceptable carbon offsets and providing transaction services
  • Assisting with the development of marketing and communications material in accordance with the Australia Competition and Consumer Commission’s Guide on Green marketing and the Australian Consumer Law
  • Assisting with third party audits

Emission Reduction Fund projects:

[vc_column_text]The Australian Government introduced legislation to implement the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) on 13 December 2014. It is a voluntary scheme that provides incentives for organisations to adopt new practices and technologies for reducing emissions earn Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs). ACCUs can be sold to generate income, either to the government through a carbon abatement contract, or in the secondary market.

Balance Carbon assists organisations to:

  • Navigate the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011 and supporting legislation
  • Submit applications to register projects ensuring the use of an applicable method and that all eligibility criteria are met
  • Secure carbon abatement contracts and participate in auctions
  • Prepare project reports in line with reporting and record keeping requirements
  • Prepare for third party audits
